Project Scope:

Indonesian government IT and AI-related projects. The role combines bilingual translation and client-side communication support, focusing on liaising with Indonesian government clients to ensure smooth communication between the Chinese delivery team and the client, while supporting successful project delivery.

Work Location:

Jakarta (On-site work required. Full-time engagement with Indonesian government clients.)

Employment Type:

Full-time (Must be able to accommodate project delivery schedules, overtime, and emergency response support related to client coordination.)

Core Role Objectives:

  1. Deliver accurate bilingual translation to eliminate communication barriers.
  2. Manage end-to-end communication coordination with local government clients, including language support, requirement transmission, and communication facilitation aligned with Indonesian culture and government business protocols, while maintaining basic client relationships to ensure smooth project delivery.

Job Responsibilities

This role focuses on Indonesian government/client-side operations and combines the responsibilities of a translator and client-side project assistant. The position centers on client communication, requirement coordination, and cultural adaptation aligned with Indonesian government standards.

1. Bilingual Translation (Core Responsibility)

Provide Chinese-Indonesian written and verbal translation throughout the full project delivery lifecycle, especially in communication scenarios involving Indonesian government clients, including but not limited to:

  • Translation of government IT/AI technical proposals, delivery progress reports, business-related documentation, and operational materials.
  • Real-time interpretation during technical meetings, project progress meetings, and client discussions between the Chinese project team and government stakeholders.
  • On-site interpretation during system demonstrations and operational training sessions conducted by Chinese engineers.
  • Daily written and verbal communication translation between both parties.

The translator must ensure alignment with Indonesian cultural etiquette and government communication standards, while maintaining consistency in IT, AI, and government-related terminology to avoid cultural or semantic misunderstandings.

2. Project Documentation Translation & Proofreading (Core Responsibility)

Responsible for translating and proofreading all project-related documents, especially government documents, IT/AI technical documentation, and delivery materials, including:

  • Reviewing translated drafts
  • Verifying terminology consistency
  • Ensuring semantic accuracy and grammatical correctness
  • Eliminating mistranslations and omissions
  • Standardizing professional terminology

The role ensures all project documentation remains professional, accurate, traceable, and compliant with government project delivery standards.

3. Client-Side Communication Coordination (Core Project Assistant Responsibility)

Act as the dedicated liaison for Indonesian government clients, focusing exclusively on client-side communication coordination rather than internal project administration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively coordinating with government clients based on project delivery requirements
  • Scheduling meetings and confirming discussion agendas
  • Coordinating communication arrangements between the Chinese delivery team and clients
  • Accompanying the Chinese team during client engagements
  • Supporting bilingual communication while documenting client requirements and concerns to ensure efficient communication

4. Client Requirement Communication & Follow-Up

Accurately capture government client requests, business requirements, and modification feedback, then communicate them promptly to the Chinese delivery team.

Additionally:

  • Relay project updates and responses from the Chinese team back to the client
  • Ensure no information loss or misunderstanding during communication
  • Track requirement progress and proactively update clients
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding project delivery status in a timely manner

5. Client Meeting Coordination & Documentation Management

Coordinate all meetings between the Chinese delivery team and Indonesian government clients, including:

  • Confirming meeting schedules and participants
  • Preparing translated meeting materials
  • Coordinating meeting flow in accordance with Indonesian business etiquette

After meetings:

  • Prepare bilingual meeting minutes within one working day
  • Share meeting records with both parties
  • Archive meeting minutes and communication records for traceability and future reference

6. Client Relationship Management & Cultural Adaptation

Maintain positive working relationships with government clients in accordance with Indonesian cultural practices and government etiquette.

Responsibilities include:

  • Regularly checking client satisfaction regarding project delivery
  • Supporting delivery verification and confirmation processes
  • Explaining Indonesian cultural norms, government communication practices, and business procedures to the Chinese team
  • Introducing Chinese communication and working styles to local clients to reduce cross-cultural communication barriers

Job Requirements

A. Mandatory Requirements

1. Nationality & Residency

  • Indonesian citizen
  • Long-term resident of Jakarta with the ability to work fully on-site
  • No restrictions on travel or on-site work arrangements
  • Familiar with Indonesian culture, etiquette, and basic government operational processes
  • Able to quickly adapt to government client engagement environments

2. Language & Communication Skills

  • Native-level Indonesian language proficiency
  • Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin)
  • Able to perform professional written and verbal Chinese-Indonesian translation
  • Capable of accurately translating IT, AI, and government-related terminology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident in dealing directly with government clients
  • Proactive, patient, and skilled in resolving communication gaps
  • Strong understanding of cultural differences between China and Indonesia to avoid communication misunderstandings

3. China-Related Experience

  • Experience studying or living in China for at least 3 years
  • Strong understanding of Chinese communication styles and work culture
  • Able to quickly integrate with Chinese project teams without extensive cross-cultural adaptation

4. Relevant Experience

  • Prior translation experience in the IT and/or AI industry
  • Basic understanding of technical concepts and terminology
  • Experience in client-facing coordination or assistant roles
  • Skilled in capturing and communicating client requirements
  • Familiar with meeting coordination and document management
  • Able to independently handle dual-role responsibilities without additional training
  • This role does not involve internal project administration duties

B. Preferred Qualifications (Any One Preferred)

  1. Experience working on Indonesian government projects or liaising with government clients, with familiarity in government communication practices and procedures.
  2. Family or professional background connected to Indonesian government institutions, with the ability to support coordination with government-related departments.
  3. Experience using translation support tools, maintaining client coordination trackers, and organizing meetings independently.
  4. Deep understanding of Indonesian culture and government business standards, with the ability to proactively mitigate cross-cultural and cross-functional communication risks.
